Chuck Walker is writing a graphic history (comic) on Juan Bautista Tupac Amaru for Oxford University Press. He will discuss the joys and challenges of writing about this ‘witness of the age of revolution,’ who in 1783 was taken in chains from Cusco to Lima, sent to Cadiz, imprisoned in Ceuta for more than 30 years, and arrived in the newly independent Argentina in 1822 as an Inca King!

Chuck Walker is a MacArthur Foundation Endowed Chair in International Human Rights, Professor of History, and Director of the Hemispheric Institute of the Americas at UC Davis.
