Jane Landers, Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of History at Vanderbilt and the author of several prize-winning books about slavery in Colonial Latin America, will be coming to give a talk on Monday, May 15 drawn from her recent Huggins Lectures at Harvard on the Haitian Revolution as seen from the perspective of Spanish colonial sources and imperial struggles. Her lecture is entitled, “Before Toussaint: ‘French Negroes,’ Rebels, and Royalists in Spanish Sources.”
