Mycelial Gaming in the Fungal Queendom

January 29 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Time: 12:30 pm – 02:30 pm
Location: SSH 1246 (Science and Technology Studies Room)

A game by Stephanie Maroney, Anuj Vaidya, Mercedes Villalba

Welcome to the future, a myco-future where human and fungus have became entangled in the flesh. It is a queendom reeling from the havoc of myco-remediation gone awry, a world of necrotic and biotic possiblities – not unlike ours, yet strangely lifetimes away. Join us for a session of mycelial gaming, as we unleash the imaginary of myco-human potential through narra-tech, or more simply put – story-telling! The world of mushrooms and fungi is a source of strange and exciting inspiration that we will use to dream up characters, scenarios, cultural practices, and magic for this mycelial game. Ideas that come out of this session will contribute to a cultural archive for the facilitators’ mycelial gaming/writing project. In our session, myco-bards will generate writing about the characters, flora and fauna, and social relations of this imagined world and myco-tects will generate drawings about the physical world, landscapes, built environment, and technologies. And then the fun(gal) begins…
