Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Location: TBA
Kyla Schuller is an Assistant Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Her work investigates the intersections between race, gender, sexuality, and the sciences in U.S. culture. Her book The Biopolitics of Feeling: Race, Sex, and Science in the Nineteenth Century fundamentally reorients theories of biopower, excavating the foundational role of affect and sentimentalism in the management of life itself and its hierarchies of race and sex, and is forthcoming from Duke University Press.
