Global Tea Initiative Third Annual Symposium

Location: UC Davis Conference Center
Bringing together tea scholars, scientists, farmers and industry experts from around the globe, the symposium’s panels will focus on a diverse range of international and regional issues effecting the future of tea and understanding its past. Symposium topics will include “Oh Yes We Can! Tea Farming in California: conversations with experts and tea farmers”; From Soil to Cup: Updates on soil, cultivation, management, and nutrition”; “Sustaining Societies and Preserving Lost Cultures: Case examples from India, Japan, China and Vietnam, then and now”; and “On the Ground, Sustainability at International Tea Farms: Innovative approaches in India, Japan, and around the world.” The keynote address, “Tea in the Future: A Bumpy Ride,” will be delivered by international tea scientist Nigel Melican, Managing Director, Teacraft Ltd.
In conjunction with this year’s symposium, we are planning to host a set of other events. One is a session featuring student presentation and another is a lunch for members of the tea industry to meet with select members of the newly founded ASUCD Global Tea Club.
