The Davis Humanities Institute coordinates events highlighting research in the humanities and beyond. The DHI creates special programming for graduate students interested in “altac,” or alternative academia, careers through PhD Unlimited. The Chancellor’s Colloquium Distinguished Speaker Series is an annual set of public talks by distinguished scholars and leaders of government and industry who promise to promote intellectual spark and enriching engagement within our academic community.
The Davis Humanities Institute event support grants provide partial funding for conferences, symposia, guest lectures, workshops, and other large-budget academic events that serve scholars in the humanities at UC Davis. Priority will be given to proposals that directly involve UC Davis faculty and students in the humanities, foster interdisciplinary approaches in method or content, and draw participants and support from a variety of departments and programs. We can also help to publicize these and other campus events through our website calendar and the weekly e-announcement, “This Week in the Humanities.”
