Greetings UC Davis Latin@americanistas!

The Latin@american Cultural Studies Research Cluster would like to announce its first Fall meeting,

Time: 10am
Place: HIA conference room (SS&H 5214, above the HIST dept).

During this opening meeting, we hope to decide several key matters on the direction the cluster will take this year, including, but not limited to: potential readings to be discussed in monthly cluster meetings; a list of possible guest speakers to be invited during the course of this academic year; an open forum for cluster members to receive feed-back on works-in-progress; the possibility of organizing a graduate symposium, with students from other California campuses, etc. While engaging in a serious academic endeavor, we also hope to build upon the existing social networks among the community of scholars interested in Latin@ Studies & Latin America here at UC Davis; hence, we hope this first meeting will also provide an opportunity to meet others with similar interests in pursuing cultural studies related to Latin America.

Please contact Magalí Rabasa or Nicholas Sánchez with any questions or comments, or if you are interested in the cluster but are unable to attend this meeting. Also, please feel free to extend this invitation to anyone else whom you think might be interested in participating in this exciting new project. We hope to see you all Friday October 26th, 2007.

Best wishes,
Magalí Rabasa (Cultural Studies)
& Nicholas Sánchez (Comp Lit)
