The Modern Language Association is awarding grants to support the development of courses and other educational programs that build enrollments and revitalize student interest in the humanities. In particular, we encourage proposals for courses that are interdisciplinary, that include the digital humanities, and that emphasize collaboration, public engagement, and experiential learning.

To be eligible, applicants must be current MLA members or be affiliated with an ADE or ADFL member department. Full- and part-time faculty members are eligible to apply. Individual and joint faculty proposals are welcome. For projects with multiple faculty participants, the primary contact or project leader must meet the eligibility requirements, although this is not required for additional participants.

Project Proposals

All applications must include a project proposal of no more than four typed pages and include the following information

  • A title and description of the course or project
  • The names of all participants and their roles
  • The target student population
  • A project timeline
  • Project goals
  • A brief budget that shows how the grant will be spent
