Bags Across the Globe

Bags Across the Globe

Application Deadline: Sunday, January 23rd, 2011

Time: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Location: Art Annex (TCS Building) and Design Museum (Walker 145)

BAG (Bags Across the Globe) is conceived as a global collaborative piece, or what contemporary artist-activists call an “intervention,” in which the artist/designer carries out an action in the public sphere. The goal of BAG is to collaborate with friends and strangers in countries across the globe, in order to bring attention to the environmental damage caused by single-use plastic shopping bags and textile waste, and to promote the use of reusable cloth bags.

The lecture by Design Professor Savageau is from 1:30 to 2:30 at Art Annex followed by the opening reception at the Design Museum to 3:30 PM.

The exhibition opens on January 18 and runs until March 11, 2011.

This event is sponsored by UC Davis Design Program and Design Museum.
