Lecture by Professor Greg Dawes

Lecture by Professor Greg Dawes

Application Deadline: Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM Location: 910 Sproul

Prof. Dawes has published numerous works, both books and articles in English and Spanish, on 20th century Latin American poetry, and is especially well-known for his work on the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. He is the editor-in-chief of the online Latin Americanist peer-reviewed journal A Contracorriente. A Journal on Social History and Culture in Latin America, which has become, in its roughly ten years of existence, what is probably the most prominent online journal for Latin-Americanist scholarship, literary and otherwise, publishing superb scholarship from both North and from Latin America and around the world. Numbers of faculty and  graduate students from UCD have published work there in the past, and A Contracorriente remains an excellent venue for publication for our best PhD students working in the area of Latin America.  As part of his visit, Professor Dawes will be lecturing on Neruda and on digital publishing in Latin American Studies.

This event is sponsored by Departments of Spanish and Comparative Literature, the Hemispheric Institute on the Americas.
