Poverty Alleviation through Sustainable Solutions (PASS) from the UC Davis Blum Center
Project grants are available for 2019-2020
The PASS awards program provides seed funding to encourage engagement by graduate and professional students at UC Davis in finding viable, tangible and sustainable solutions to reduce poverty in the developing world.
The PASS program is intended to help transform solid concepts into pilot projects. The program encompasses field research and/or hands-on applications.
Eligibility
PASS grants are offered campus wide as an opportunity of international practical education to all graduate and professional students.
Funding Available
Awards between $1,000 up to $4,000 will be made for successful grants.
A strong proposal will clearly specify:
- Context within which the field work will be conducted (country or countries involved, local community, and those most impacted by the work)
- Description of the problem(s) that the proposal aims to tackle
- Outline of project goals and anticipated outcomes
- Methodology and timeline
- Appropriate budget (airfare, lodging, transportation, supplies, etc.)
- Feasibility and sustainability of the project
- A faculty mentor/advisor
- Correlation with poverty alleviation, equality, social justice
