Hello everyone, and welcome back! The DHI is excited for our Fall 2022 programming, and to be renewing our weekly communications with members of our communities on and off campus. This year we are introducing the "DHI Digest," which will replace the weekly newsletter and will feature events, activities, and deadlines for the coming week. We will be producing a longer newsletter on a quarterly basis, which will provide a detailed review of DHI activities from the quarter, and will feature highlights and interviews with faculty, students, and fellowship winners. Please send us your news to feature in the newsletter using this portal by Nov 15, 2022.

Check in next week for the first of our DHI Digests, which will be sent out every Monday. For today, we offer you a preview of DHI Fall Quarter plans:

Book Chats

The UC Davis Humanities Institute’s Book Chat series celebrates the artistic and intellectual ventures of our faculty and allows them to share their new publications, performances, or readings with the Davis community. Our first Book Chat will be Wednesday, Oct 12 featuring Prof. Talinn Grigor (Department of Art History). Please join us for a wine and cheese reception, followed by a dialogue with the author.

Conversation Series: Abortion and Religion

The Conversation Series is a public event series that puts UC and other scholars in dialogue with one another, the community, and students. The hope is that bringing faculty together across the humanities, social sciences, and STEM to examine issues of common interest will generate new questions we may not have thought to ask ourselves. Our first Conversation will feature a diverse panel of scholars on the topic of abortion and religion.
