Faculty Resources
The Davis Humanities Institute supports faculty by connecting them to intramural and external funding opportunities, offering financial and technical assistance for campus-hosted arts and humanities events, and organizing programming that enhances cross-campus connections.
DHI Awards
The DHI administers two faculty awards. The Faculty Research Fellowship (FRF) is an annual award open to any ladder-rank faculty within the College of Arts and Science whose research is informed by humanistic methodologies or artistic practices, and who are undertaking a major research project. The Humanities Labs supports interdisciplinary teams of faculty and students who are undertaking projects that center the arts and humanities. At least one project lead must be Senate faculty in the College of Arts and Science. Labs funding lasts two years. The current funding call closes on October 30, 2026.
Faculty Supports
The DHI co-sponsors faculty-led campus events that showcase the arts and humanities and make them accessible to a broad audience; helps publicize departmental activities (events, awards, projects) through its newsletter and website; and supports faculty in seeking extramural grant funding (more below). Looking ahead, the DHI is looking to host faculty writing retreats and expand support for undergraduate research. Check back for updates on those priorities!

Depending on where you are in your process, you may reach out to Strategic Initiatives, for pre-pre-award help (finding grants, applying for seed, finding collaborators) or to Proposal Development Services for application support (developing and reviewing materials, including budgets).
