Each year the Hemingway Society accepts applications for its Lewis-Reynolds-Smith Founders Fellowship grant, and typically makes two awards of $1,000 each to support the development of a Hemingway-related project. Preference is given to enrolled graduate students, independent scholars, or recent recipients of doctorate degrees. Applications are due by February 19, 2021.
But I can’t travel right now and archives are closed--can I still apply for the award? YES!
Prospective applicants should note that, while the fellowship often funds travel to archives, we recognize and support other financial needs as well that directly support scholarship. Other eligible expenses include, but are not limited to, purchase of books and subscriptions; childcare; and teaching releases. We do not typically fund conference travel, publicity for already completed projects, or the purchase of personal computing equipment.
