The Graduate Student of Color Summer Research Award
Funded by the Student Recruitment & Retention Center (SRRC)
The Graduate Academic Achievement and Advocacy Program (GAAAP) is pleased to announce summer travel/research awards for hxstorically underrepresented graduate students of color at UC Davis. We invite applications for research projects that examine questions of marginalization, promote social, racial and/or environmental justice, or engage community-based public scholarship.
Funding may be used for research-related expenses such as travel, materials, and/or living expenses for research-based writing.
Application deadline: Sunday, May 9, 2021 by 11:59pm PST
Award Announcement: Monday, May 17 th
Funding Disbursed: by Friday, July 3rd
Award amount: $100-$500
Who can Apply
· UC Davis graduate students completing their terminal degrees (MA, MS, PhD, and MFA) at any stage in their graduate studies.
· Must graduate no earlier than December 2020

· Proposal (750-word max)
Proposals should address the following: (1) How does your research and/or academic goals advance the mission of the SRRC (empowering or supporting hxstorically underrepresented people/communities and advancing our collective mission for community empowerment and social justice)? (2) In what ways will this grant help you achieve your goals? (3) How will this grant support your retention?
Review and Selection Process
Proposals will be reviewed by the SRRC selection committee, and evaluated based on the following criteria:
· Significance of research project to mission of the SRRC
· Feasibility and appropriateness of the proposed plan of summer research or writing
· Discussion of how the summer award will support student’s retention and success
