Professional development and academic achievements often come with expenses that are unaffordable for some students. The purpose of this fund is to help offset some of the expenses for students in need.
This is a pilot project with limited funding ($2,500) developed with the following scenarios in mind:
- University Fees: filing fees, thesis-binding fees for library copies, etc.
- Professional Development: taking a course outside of UCD, etc.
Applications are not limited to the aforementioned scenarios, so long as the request aligns with the purpose of the individual development fund and are considered reimbursable expenses by the University (i.e. we cannot pay for personal electronics, rent/utilities, or student time).
Instructions:
All applications submitted by May 15 will be reviewed by a committee of fellow graduate students masked to personal identifiers. GSA will operate in good faith that applicants will petition for the amount they truly need. Any expenses occurring within the past academic year and prior to Fall 2021 are eligible for consideration. You will need the following information to submit the form:
(1) Amount/description of funding request
(2) Short answer questions (max 250 words each)
- How will this opportunity contribute to your professional or academic development?
- Please describe your need for financial assistance.
Note:
GSA can only provide payment via reimbursement, so please retain records of any receipts or be able to show proof that your credit card or bank account was charged. Award recipients will be contacted with more information about the reimbursement process. Please email gsatreasurer@ucdavis.edu if you have any questions about the application.
