The Social Science Research Council’s Program on Religion and the Public Sphere is pleased to announce a grant opportunity that may be of interest to students and early-career scholars at SARI and in your networks. We would greatly appreciate your help sharing this opportunity to your network via email, your website, and/or social media.
The Religion, Spirituality, and Democratic Renewal (RSDR) Program of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), with the support of the Fetzer Institute, aims to bring knowledge of the place of religion and spirituality into scholarly and public conversations about renewing democracy. These grants offer research support over a period of up to 12 months to doctoral students who have advanced to candidacy and to postdoctoral researchers within five years of their PhD. Applicants working as professional researchers or university faculty without the PhD outside of the United States may be eligible, if they are not concurrently enrolled in an MA program, and are within five years of the commencement of their professional position, as demonstrated by their curriculum vitae. We welcome proposals on all aspects and dimensions of religion and spirituality in its relation to democracy from across all fields in the social sciences, humanities, and theology. This year projects focusing on any global context may be considered for funding. Applications are due March 20, 2023. More information on the program, eligibility, and application process is available on the Program’s website.
