Sponsored by the Political Ecology Lab and the Geography Graduate Group, “Critical perspectives on feeding the world” provides a forum for critical social science and interdisciplinary conversations on issues relating to agriculture, the environment, and politics. The event will highlight leading scholars doing work related to agroecology, socially-just agriculture, and California food systems. This mini-symposium will feature two sessions that bring together scholars and early career discussants with diverse viewpoints.

The symposium will take place on Friday, May 14th (10-11:50am) as part of the Campus Global Theme, Food for Thought: Feeding Ourselves, Feeding the Planet. Students who register and attend will be put into a random drawing for a gift card from the Davis Food Co-op!

The event will feature two brilliant, critical scholars: Liz Carlisle, and Lucy Diekmann, and four graduate student discussants: Mariah Coley (Geography), Lauren Asprooth (Geography), Steve Haring (Horticulture and Agronomy), and Charlotte Glennie (Sociology). More details about the schedule are on the Davis Political Ecology lab’s website (politicalecologylab.ucdavis.edu/events).
