Join current UC Davis Cultural Studies scholars as they share their experiences in community-engaged scholarship and activism. Marlene Mercado, Wayne Jopanda, and Hayley Steele will each describe their projects as Mellon Public Scholars and how they incorporate their ongoing commitments to communities beyond the university with their academic work. Preceding their presentation, Mellon Public Scholars program manager (and CST alum) Stephanie Maroney will provide an overview of the 2021 call for proposals and answer your questions about the program which awards graduate students to carry out a community-engaged summer research project after completing a spring seminar (proposals are due 1/15/21, more at publicscholars.ucdavis.edu).
