Learn about funding types, resources for finding opportunities specific to your needs, and choosing where and when to apply.

There is a wide range of fellowship and grant funding opportunities available to graduate students and postdocs, but it can often be difficult to figure out where to start in finding the best opportunities for one's own needs.

By the end of this workshop hosted by UC Davis Graduate Studies and the Interdisciplinary Research Support team participants will leave with:

  • A review chart explaining different types of graduate student and postdoc funding
  • A review chart identifying which funding types are appropriate for their current career stage
  • A discussion prompt for talking about funding opportunities with your faculty advisor/PI
  • A resource list of funding opportunity databases
  • A tutorial and list of tips for Pivot, the web's most powerful grant search database
  • A flowchart reviewing the Lead-Prospect-Match approach to using search databases in an organized and stress-free way
  • A template for creating a multi-year grant-writing plan that incorporates the demands of grad student/postdoc life

The workshop will also provide time for Q&A with Research Development professionals on campus about finding funding opportunities as a critical part of the research development process.

UC Davis graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are warmly invited to attend this event. To confirm your UC Davis affiliation, be sure to use your @ucdavis.edu email address when registering.
