At some point, we’ve probably all been there: staring at our computer screens, scrolling through grant after grant after grant, feeling our frustrations grow ever higher as we just can’t seem to find what we need.

In this two-part session, participants will break that cycle for good. In Part 1, workshop participants will learn about the basics of funding agencies and the versatile Lead-Prospect-Match approach to finding funding best suited to their needs.

In Part 2, participants will guided through a hands-on introduction to Pivot, web's most powerful grant search database. After reviewing the basic functionality of the engine (including its 2020 redesign), participants will apply the L-P-M approach to Pivot's "saved search" feature and begin identifying the grant opportunities they could pursue in the coming academic year.

At the end of this session, participants will leave with:

  • Knowledge of how best to use search features in Pivot, including tools like "advanced search" and "saved search"
  • At least one "saved search" in Pivot, which will generate recurring notifications of new and upcoming funding opportunities related to the participants research interests
  • An understanding of the Lead-Prospect-Match approach to identifying funding opportunities well-suited to their research needs, and practice applying it in Pivot
