You are cordially invited to our final CRTMIL event of the year, "The myth of normalcy: Kashmir in the aftermath of 2019," a Zoom talk with Professor Ather Zia on June 1, 12pm PST.

Zia is a political anthropologist, poet, short fiction writer, and columnist. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Gender Studies program at the University of Northern Colorado Greeley. Zia is the author of Resisting Disappearances: Military Occupation and Women’s Activism in Kashmir (June 2019).

Professor Zia's talk will cover the aftermath of erasure of Kashmir’s quasi-autonomy and how the Indian nation-state is re-engineering a narrative of ‘normalcy’ under settler colonial policies. Zunaira Komal from UC Davis will serve as host for this event and provide a brief response.
