The English Department welcomes Professor Petra Kuppers for a lecture entitled "Eco Soma Encounters" on Friday, 4/22, 3:10 PM in 126 Voorhies.

Petra Kuppers is a disability culture activist, writer, and community performance artist, and the Anita Gonzalez Collegiate Professor in Performance Studies and Disability Culture at the University of Michigan. She uses ecosomatics, performance, and speculative writing to engage audiences toward more socially just and enjoyable futures. Her most recent study, Eco Soma: Pain and Joy in Speculative Performance Encounters (UoMinnesota Press, 2022, open access), explores disability culture perspectives on moving in diverse worlds.

Graduate Students are also invited to a discussion with Kuppers on Thursday, 4/21, 12:10-1 PM in 126 Voorhies, moderated by Natalie Robertson (PhD student, English) and Rosemary Hannon (PhD student, Performance Studies).
