The shift to online teaching can necessitate new ways of assessing student learning. In this workshop designed for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, we will first explore how to interweave formative (low-stakes) assessment into online classes. We will then consider how to design summative assessments that are equitable, fair, and aligned with learning goals; as well as how to avoid common challenges with online testing.
