A Decolonial Aesthetic? by David Marriott

Fanon’s ideas on art, literature and national culture are compared and contrasted to those of the Iranian cultural critic, Ali Shari’ati, who translated The Wretched of the Earth into Persian in 1971.

David Marriott teaches in the Philosophy Department, Penn State University, and is the author of several books of poetry and criticism, including: Whither Fanon? Studies in the Blackness of Being (Stanford UP, 2018), Duppies (London Materials: 2017), and In Neuter (Equipage, 2015).
