CRTMIL INVITED TALK; PLEASE JOIN US FOR:
Dr. Mae Miller, UC President's Postdoctoral Fellow, UC Berkeley, Geography
Wednesday, February 17th, 12-2pm PST

Abstract: This talk will present an overview of Dr. Miller's ongoing book project, Oceanic Groundings: Black Feminist Journeys Across Insurgent Seas. Based upon extensive archival and oral historical research, the project explores modes of political education among colonial seafarers and maritime travelers in the early twentieth century and considers how ordinary people--working through the interstices and antinomies of imperial shipping-- engaged in practices of solidarity and world-making.
